Timeline for you Skin to be "Wedding Ready"

So as many of you know, I am going to be getting married this year! So it got me thinking, what does a timeline look like if you want your skin looking it's healthiest and glowiest on your wedding day? So I decided to give you all the deets on what you should aim for and expect.

Number one, if you are getting married in less than a month or two and haven't done anything to start healing acne, pigment, etc, my best advice is that you should schedule a consultation with me, and we can adjust your routine slightly and do a couple things to help your skin by the big day, but tbh a huge overhaul is too risky this soon. I highly recommend focusing on doing things to de-stress, like walking, breathing excersizes, etc. AND I highly recommend you try to eat as many whole foods as you can, and put down the alcohol and processed foods. Stress, and a poor diet will only make things worse!

What does the timeline look like?

I think you should give yourself at least 6 months before your wedding day to start focusing on your skin is you have acne, scarring, or some kind of pigment you want lightened. If you don't have any huge skin concerns, don't overhaul your routine or anything just yet. If what you are doing is working and your skin feels good, then keep going! But if you need some TLC, make sure you give yourself ample time.

Where to Begin?

I recommend finding a well reviewed esthetician in your area, look at their website, social media to gauge what their expertise is in and make sure they have before and after photos. Find somebody who works on skin that looks like yours.

What to Expect.

Every esthetician out there will have some sort of difference in timeline, treatment, and products BUT what you do at home is going to give you wayyyy more results than just treatments alone.

Having a simple home care routine that protects your barrier, and focuses on your skin concerns is best. No need to go crazy with multiple exfoliants, masks, and steps morning and night. Simple and consistency is key. Top notch home care is going to outperform treatments if you only have to choose one or the other too.

Make sure to express your budget and concerns with your esthetician, so that they can make sure to keep all your costs in mind.

What are the Best Treatments?

  • Chemical Peels - This will help with acne, texture, pigment, sun damage, acne scarring (reds and browns), and doing a series of treatments will give you the best results. There are lots of peels out there, and some will make you peel like a snake, and others you won't see any visible shedding.

My favorite peel series for the summertime on the body and face is BioRePeel, you do a peel every 7-10 days and really has minimal downtime and flaking, and really can lift a lot of scarring and pigment! This is personally what I am doing on my arms and chest before my wedding. Along with using brightening serums and products at home.

  • Microneedling - This helps with acne, acne scarring (ice pick, rolling scars, reds, browns, etc) fine lines, texture, and rosacea. If you want to target pigment I would combine with a peel! Again, doing a series of 3-6 30 days apart is ideal for best results. I love this because of the minimal downtime, and lasting results. This is also amazing for prevention! It basically forces your body to create a ton of extra collagen into the skin (which we lose every year) and it does it without heat or chemicals.

  • Facials - This is amazing for people who need to de-stress or for maintenance after a series of treatments. Especially if you are more on the sensitive side, working with an esty who can see your skin every month will help you navigate the ups and downs. For my super sensitive skin clients, I focus on massage and calming the skin. Blood flow is completely underrated and is one of the best things you can do for your skin!

  • Acne Program - This is great for somebody who needs help with both topical solutions and lifestyle factors. Acne is not just a topical issue, but rather the symptom of something deeper. Through and acne program, your esthetician will help you walk through many factors to help find a root cause.

Sample Timeline (acne or pigment)

  1. 8 Months Before Wedding - Consult with an esthetician, start new regimen of skincare products.

  2. 7 Months Before - Start treatment series, such as chemical peels or microneedling. (I prefer to start with peels first to see how pigment and acne can be cleared before microneedling if you are doing both treatments. )

  3. 6 Months Before - Treatment 2

  4. 5 Months Before - Treatment 3

  5. 4 Months Before - Treatment 4

  6. 3 Months Before - Treatment 5 (Try to not adjust any homecare products here on out)

  7. 2 Months Before - Treatment 6 or maintenance facial (You could test a dermaplane facial to see how your skin reacts)

  8. 1 Month Before - Maintenance facial

  9. 1 week Before - lots of makeup artists love when you have freshly dermaplaned skin for makeup application, but of course not everybody is a candidate for this. It is a form of a deep exfoliation, and should 100% be tested once or twice before doing it close to your wedding.

Obviously there is SO MUCH that goes into your skin, and everybody is so different and that is why working with somebody who can get to know you and your skin will make a world of difference. Chasing trends and following tips of influencers that have never touched somebody's face shouldn't be the ones dictating what you do to your skin.

I don't offer a "wedding package" or anything, BUT I would love to help you with your skin if you are getting married, or getting ready for a big event. You can also continue to follow all the skin tips and things here on my blog (for free). <3
