SkinPen Microneedling yields the best results when done in a series 4 weeks apart. Collagen stimulation and skin restructuring can continue 3-6 months post last treatment as well.

Acne - 2 to 4 sessions for visible results, peels can be helpful but not required in most cases.

Acne Scarring - 6 sessions depending on type of scarring, and how long the scarring has been there. peels can be helpful but not required in most cases.

Please arrive with no makeup on, and no jewelry in the areas that are being treated. Wear clothing that your neck and chest can be exposed for the treatment, and so that no clothing is rubbing or touching the treated areas at the end of your appointment.

• If your face or treatment area has irritated skin (sunburn, open wounds, sores) the day preceding your appointment, please contact our office before your appointment.

• This procedure may not be performed on active breakouts or open lesions. Please consult your provider prior to your SkinPen procedure to address any such issues.

• Wait at least six months post isotretinoin use before your SkinPen procedure, as isotretinoin use may impair proper wound healing.

• If you have recently used spray or self-tanning lotions on treatment areas before your SkinPen procedure, discuss with your provider.

• Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours prior to the procedure.

• Discontinue the use of topical products containing AHAs, Retinol or Vitamin A for 24 hours prior to your SkinPen procedure.

• If you are on autoimmune therapy, ask your provider if the procedure is appropriate for you.

• Although not seen in the clinical study, in fitzpatrick skintypes IV-VI, pigment may darken prior to lightening.

• SkinPen has not been evaluated in patients with herpes simplex virus. if you are prone to outbreaks, such as cold sores, consult your provider whether the procedure is appropriate for you or ways to treat prior.

The day of the procedure:

• Do not use any other products, including cleanser on your skin within the first 24 hours post-procedure. In lieu of cleansing your skin, you may rinse with cool distilled water as needed.

• Unexpected complications may occur when products not proven safe for use with microneedling are applied post-procedure.

• Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration, as excess blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort and irritation to compromised skin for 72 hours.

• Skinfuse® Lift HG may be applied the day of the procedure to assist with skin hydration. Re-apply, as needed, up to 24 hours post procedure.

• A SkinPen Premium Biocellulose Masque may be applied following the treatment to help calm the skin.

• Strictly avoid sun exposure as you will not be wearing sunscreen. You may return to sunscreen use 24 hours following the procedure. Continue to minimize sun exposure for 72 hours following the procedure.

• Hours 25-72, you can use a gentle cleanser and the provided moisturizer. After 72 hours you should be able to do your normal routine. If any products irritate or sting the skin, wait another day or two before use.

The days following the procedure:

• The treated area may be pink and mildly inflamed (similar to the appearance of a mild sunburn) for 24-48 hours following your SkinPen procedure.

• The treated area may be more sensitive to products for a few days after the treatment, and possibly light flaking or peeling may occur.

• For the skin to be tight, dry, swollen, and itchy.

• To experience redness

• For areas of the skin to appear darker

• To feel the sensation of a sunburn

• To experience sensitivity to water temperature, or gentle skin products.

Other tips!

• Make sure you clean your makeup brushes, especially after treatment.

• You can place your post care mask in the fridge, for a cooling effect.

• Stay hydrated, and try to be as kind to your body as possible so that your body can focus on healing your skin. (eat healthy, lots of veggies, fruits, nutrient dense food, water, vitamins, minerals, etc.)

Gentle Procedure:

• SkinPen uses a vertical needle insertion which is considered less irritating to the skin than angled needles found in some derma rollers, potentially reducing discomfort during treatment.

If you add on a chemical peel, expect 5 days of downtime. Which means, you will be peeling or flaky for about 5 days, and you may stay red for slightly longer than just a microneedling treatment.
